ANTÓNIO CABRITA has a degree in dance by the Escola Superior de Dança in Lisbon (2008), was formed in the the National Conservatoire Dance School (2000), he also studied dance at the Joffrey Ballet School in NY (2001), cinema at the New York Film Academy (2001), and studied advertising at the Restart - School of Creativity and New Technologies in Lisbon (2004).
He works in Portugal, Germany and other European countries, as an dancer,
choreographer, actor, video-designer and musician. In the last years he worked in pieces from several choreographers, like Rui Horta, Né Barros, Silke Z, António Tavares, Tânia Carvalho, Ana Rita Barata, Pedro Ramos, Feliz Lozano, Hofesh Shechter, between others.
Also he participated as guest in projects like Colina, and festivals, Repérages, and Temps d'Images. He founded and worked as a artistic director of - Espaço M - in Lisbon between 2003 - 2004. Between 2003 and 2005 he directed two independent projects - Solos 1=1+3+12+132 and ÉHORA. With his solo “Volatil” he was invited to participate in the first solo dance festival in Lisbon. Since 2009 collaborates with the company CIM - with people with cerebral paralysis. He develops, as a video designer, several works for dance and theatre pieces. Collaborates in dance and technology projects like EDGE, and Emotinal Energy, where the body interaction with computer generated images in real time is the main subject of the work. As a photographer he exhibits works like; “Magma” and a fusion between New York and Barreiro (his hometown in Portugal). As an actor he works in theatre and cinema between Portugal and Germany. He was nominated for the Portugal Dance Awards 2009. He directed in 2009 the To fail Project. He choreographed the piece “88” for the company Quorum Ballet. Recently worked with Companhia Instável as a substitute dancer in the Hofesh Shechter project “Shelters” for Guimarães European
Capital of Culture 2012.
In 2013 he created the video design for the “Swan Lake” version of the company QuorumBallet.
He teaches composition and video workshops in several european countries.
He is a resident artist in the german company Silke Z./ Resistdance.
Since 2011 develops the project ACSC with São Castro.
