NuIsIs ZoBoP
ZOS (She Will Not Live) PERFORMANCE
 

Hugo Calhim Cristóvão (1972- Mozambique), Creator and Director of performance research group "NuIsIs ZoBoP", in which he is engaged in full time since November 2006. He created and developed the processes of ongoing research "Thanateros - psychophysical psychovocal trainings of active decontextualisation for performers" and "Ex-Nihilo- strategies for free systematic improvisation for performers," which have been effective since 2000 to date. Also explored a variety of other experiences, including the non hierarchical substrate of the Gnostic tradition of ecstasy, as well as several bodies of knowledge aiming to understand and realize states of dreaming and delirium. Created and directed "ABBADON" with interpretation of Paula Cepeda Rodrigues, under NuIsIs ZoBoP in 2006/2007, work that still remains active and in presentation. Created and directed “SHE WILL NOT Live” and “VELEDA” with creation, and interpretation by Joana von Mayer Trindade. Author of the monograph "Poor Theater / Art as a Vehicle: The thread of Ariadne," the dramatic text "ABBADON," the manifesto "Congress: The Assembly of Fragile Moments ", and the Community projects "Third Age" and "Blind”, among others. Outside the context of NuIsIs ZoBoP he highlights the professional performing experience with Conceição Nunes, João Paulo Costa, Polina Klimovitskaia, Rogerio de Carvalho, Malcolm Morrison, Min Tanaka, Christine de Villepoix, Laurie Booth, Thomas Richards, Andrezj Mayak, Andrezj Sadowsky, Zygmunt Molik, Elizabete Disdier, Paula Simms, Alain Richardson, Krystian Lupa and Guennadi Bogdanov, among other directors. Master of Arts in Theatre, Interpretation and Direction of Actors, in the School of Music and Performing Arts of Oporto (1998/1999). Professional training in Directing at Teatro Nacional D. Maria II (2003). Professor of the disciplines of Drama I and Drama II in secondary education (2003/2004). Professor of the University of Évora teaching the disciplines of “Body and Scenic Movement II” (2003/2004), “Body and Scenic Movement III” and “Improvisation III”(2004/2005) of the degree in Theatre Studies. Other experiences, including a three-month immersion in the Zen meditation Antai-ji Temple in Japan (2002), and a stay of six months in India where he finished "Certificate Course in Yoga" in the Benares Hindu University in Varanasi and "Intensive Yoga Teachers Training Course" on Patanjali Yoga Foundation in Rishikesh, both in 2008. At the present moment Hugo is studying Philosophy (Universidade de Letras do Porto) preparing himself for a PhD in the fields of metaphysic and logic.
