MÓNICA GARNEL (Lisbon, 1974)
Since 1999 she works regularly with Mónica Calle (Casa Conveniente). She has been directed by Filipe La Féria, Carlos Avillez, Nuno Carinhas, João Mota, André E. Teodosio, Luís Fonseca, João Brites, Miguel Seabra, Bruno Bravo, Gonçalo Amorim, Nelson Boggio, Pedro Gil, Gonçalo Waddington, Jorge Andrade. In the cinema she was directed by Luís Fonseca, Raquel Freire, Jorge Cramez and Paulo Belém. She went through hundreds of castings. In 2006 she co-authored with Ana Ribeiro the play Entretanto. In 2010, she presented for the first time a play by Miguel Castro Caldas, entitled Campo Grande. In 2012 she conceived and directed the play Bang Bang based on the The Lover by Marguerite Duras.
MIGUEL CASTRO CALDAS (Lisbon, 1972).
He is a member of the company Primeiros Sintomas for which he wrote the following plays O Homem do Pé Direito (The Man with a Right Foot), Nunca Terra em vez de Peter Pan (Neverland instead of Peter Pan), Repartição (Partition), Os Assassinos (The Assassins) all directed by Bruno Bravo. Teresa Sobral, Sofia Cabrita, Jorge Silva Melo, Gonçalo Waddington, Gonçalo Amorim, Mónica Garnel, Cristina Carvalhal, André E. Teodósio were some of the directors that staged his writings. Some of these were published by Cotovia Editors in the theatre collection; Levantar a Mesa (Clearing the table) was published by Revista Artistas Unidos; Nós numa Corda (Tied up in Rope) by Culturgest and Não tenho a tua vida (I Don’t Have Your Life) in Fatal (2011). He is the author of two books, both published by Ambar Editors: Queres Crescer e Depois Não Cabes na Banheira (You want to grow but then you won’t fit the bathtub) in 2002 and As Sete Ilhas de Lisboa (The seven islands of Lisbon) in 2004. He also translated Samuel Beckett, Harold Pinter, Ali Smith, William Maxwell, Joyce Carol Oates, and many other authors.
RUTE CARDOSO (Lisbon, 1980).
She majored in Theatre (Acting/Directing) in Escola Superior de Teatro e Cinema. In the theatre she worked with Rogério de Carvalho, João Brites, Mónica Calle, Nuno Cardoso, Madalena Vitorino, Jorge Estrela, Mónica Garnel amongst other directors. In cinema she appeared in two short films: Noise, a collective production and Doctor Deborah, directed by Emídio Buchinho and Cláudia Barreira. She has worked as Executive Producer in the company Casa Conveniente.
JOSÉ MIGUEL VITORINO (Lisbon, 1983)
He graduated in Public and Environmental Health and attended a Master’s degree in Public Health. After a few years he dedicated himself entirely to the theatre and started working as an actor with Mónica Calle. Lately, he has been developing his own projects in the fields of audiovisual arts, video, photography and writing. |
